Created at Cityside Baptist Church in Auckland, this collection gathers a decade of experiments in worship, ritual, art and community life.
The beginning
A collection from
one particular place.
Following the publication of The Prodigal Project: journey into the emerging church in 2000, requests arrived for resources that might stimulate new ways of doing worship and church. Fractals gathered much of what the Cityside community had created.
It is deliberately not a model for other communities to copy. Cityside’s worship emerged from its own people, resources and cultural setting. Your setting—and therefore your response—will be different.

Why “Fractals”?
Fractals are repeated geometric patterns found in nature. They carry associations of chance, self-similarity, repetition, creativity and beauty. They offer a compelling mix of randomness and order, with little copies buried deep within the original.
Fractals for Worship offers creative material that can be modified and repeated in expanding and deepening patterns of worship and church life—patterns not adequately described by older categories.
