Introduction
This is the last Sunday of the Christian year (i.e. the Sunday before the first Sunday in Advent). It is a celebration that looks forward to when Christ will return and establish his rule over all people and places.

Colour: Green or Red
Ritual: We have used this day for looking back over the year. The congregation takes time to reflect on what has happened in the previous 12 months. As a group we list all the events of significance that happened within our community, or to our community, or affecting a group within it – both good and bad – under each month, on a whiteboard. As we do this, we retell the story of our year together. Recollections include international and national events if they have impacted someone in the group.
At the end, we ask the questions – is there anything left unfinished? Is there anything we need to do to restore, mark, or bring closure to any event? What do we want to recognise in some further, formal ways? What do we need to leave behind?
We do this in the context of our usual service.
It would also be possible to have some items present that could be used to create some sort of ritual– such as pieces of paper for writing things on, a shredder, a bucket of water to drop stones into etc.
Play music: e.g. – Fat Boy Slim single ‘Praise You’, or sing ‘You have brought us this far by your grace’. During this, people can write or draw in a thanksgiving book (that is brought out from year to year and added to.)
